My test shots with Leica M8 mounted with 35MM Summarit Lens. I have been admiring Leica since joining my college’s photography club in the early 90s. I believe that this particular brand was quite popular for many great photographers in the mid-20th century. To me, I value the simplicity of its operation and the best thing about this rangefinder camera is you decide what to focus on, not the camera.

With Christmas and New Year just around the corner, Ottawa has been lit up with festive lights since early December. Photo above was taken at the National War Memorial facing the golden Chateau Laurier. The snow covering the ground makes the city much brighter at night.

Wishing every Muslims Eid Mubarak, Selamat Hari Raya to Malay friends and Selamat Hari Lebaran to Indonesian Muslim friends. Photos below were taken during the “Open House” event that took place yesterday at the No.1 Residence. There were only about 50 guests who came and those who didn’t come might be taking the opportunity for a getaway during the long Eid weekend.

Parliament Centre Block. Home to the Senate and House of Commons, where government policies are examined and considered, and where legislation is introduced, debated and passed into law. Session will resume soon after the long summer break, and political parties seems to be gearing up for possible election later this year.

Vancouver Part II – Random

All shots in Vancouver were taken with the nikon DX VR 18-200mm of course attached to my Alexis. The lens is quite handy and light, suitable for those photo hobbyists or enthusiasts who wishes to travel light. To me it produces almost similar quality like the rest of my prime lenses (ie this and this) especially when shooting on a daylight, but of course those prime lenses are superb especially on low light shooting plus it gives more softer background and works well with Alexis.

Protesting against seal hunting at downtown Vancouver

An Asian lady searching for used plastic bottles and papers, which could be sold for few cents a pound at recycling vendors, while a man passes by and seems to enjoy his probably new wireless headset… There are still quite a number of beggars asking for money for food or coffee at most major streets in downtown Vancouver. Most of them are able-bodied, therefore I don’t really have the sense of guilt or pity towards them. At least they could do something similar like this poor Asian lady, instead of annoying pedestrians which they might end up getting less than a dollar from begging the whole day.
